BALLView on MS Wissenschaft 2011
This summer, within the context of this science year's subject "Research for our health", the ship MS Wissenschaft will cruise on German rivers. BALLView, our tool for modelling and visualising medically relevant molecules, developed by Bioinformaticians of both the Saarland University and the Eberhard-Karls-University Tübingen will also be on board.

The MS Wissenschaft is an exposition ship with various exhibits of scientific organisations and universities on the subject of health research. The focus lies on topics such as imaging, drug development and medical technology as well as basic medical research.
This year, BALLView (www.ballview.org) will also be present on MS Wissenschaft. With BALLView, different molecular structures such as enzymes or drug molecules can be visualized using a 3D stereo monitor setup. This allows for a fast and intuitive demonstration of problems arising in the process of developing drugs for various diseases such as breast cancer or AIDS.
From May 19 to September 29 , the ship will visit 35 cities in Germany and Austria. During the “Saarspektakel 2011” (08/05/11 to 08/07/11) the MS Wissenschaft will drop anchor in Saarbrücken where visitors are invited to explore the world of health research.
